The exhibition title takes its inspiration from Chaucer's C14th dream-vision

poem 'The Parlement of Foules', which addresses the questions of love,

destiny and free will through the cast of an array of different birds.

The show explores this disparate group of painters’ take on how we relate

to birds, how we use their image and how they perceive us.

Throughout the history of painting, the image of the bird has had the dual

role of symbolic messenger of other-worldliness and representative of the mundane;

friend or foe, their importance is unavoidable.
